In an exciting move for Scottish Tennis star Andy Murray he has hired tennis legend Ivan Lendl, who was named as number four coach in the world on New Year’s Eve, as his new coach. Having lost his first four grand slam finals before going on to win eight Lendl feels that like him Murray can, with the right coaching turn his fortunes around and claim a grand slam “To me this is like Groundhog Day, I have been in this movie,” Lendl said. “I was that player once, who needed something to help make it work…what excites me about this partnership? More than anything, it is simply that this is absolutely the best match-up. Our senses of humour are very similar and we have an understanding that we need to bring our best all the time if we want to achieve. We have our fingers crossed that 2012 will see Murray land his first Grand Slam and delight clan Murray, we would also like to see Murray wearing a kilt in the Murray tartan should he pull off such a triumph! Murray currently number 3 in the world spoke enthusiastically about the new partnership. “Ivan’s impact on the game is unquestionable and he brings experience and knowledge that few others have, particularly in major tournaments,” Murray said yesterday.
