Harris Tweed is one of the world's most iconic fabrics, and is known for its beautiful vibrant colours, hard wearing properties and rich history that made it the favourite fashion of English country gentlemen. Harris Tweed is still handwoven by Islanders in Scotland's Outer Hebrides using the traditional method. 100% virgin wool is dyed and spun at Stornoway mill before the yarn is delivered to crofters who weave it into the distinct cloth that has become so internationally recognized. The cloth is then returned to the mill where it is expertly washed and finished, and certified as genuine harris tweed.
